To use the VeriSign ICP client, you must install Sun Microsystem's Java Plug-in, Version 1.4.2 or later. If the dialog box above is empty, or if it lists an earlier version of Java you must download version 1.4.2 from the Sun Web site.

Required ICP enhancements:
  • SSL Enabled Client--Encrypts all data to and from the ICP client.
    Optional ICP enhancements:
  • Clipboard Access copying and pasting--cut and paste text from other programs into the ICP interface.
  • Java Applet Warning Banners--removes warning banners from the bottom of all ICP screens.

    Installation Instructions for the Java Policy File
    Every computer that accesses any ICP server in test or production must install the ICP Policy File.

    Step 1: Download the Java policy file:
    1. Right-click on the desired link:
    (All policy files include the required SSL client permissions.)
    All Enhancements
    Clipboard Functionality
    Banner removal
    No Optional Enhancements
    2. Click Save Target As.
    3. The Windows Save As dialog box will open.
    4. Click Save to save the file to a convenient location on your computer. Note this location for Step 2.

    Step 2: Direct Java to the policy file location:
    1. From your Windows Start button, select Settings> Control Panel > Java Plug-in.
    The Java Plug-in Control Panel will open.
    2. Click the Advanced tab.
    3. In the Java Runtime Parameters field, type the following text, replacing the location and
    name of the file with the location and file name you just used to save the policy file:
    For example: "-Djava.security.policy=c:\java\icp.policy"
    4. Click Apply. The policy file is installed on your system.

    Step 3: Test the policy file installation:
    1. Refresh this page and the correct permissions should show as enabled.
